Andalusian Journey
whitewashed villages, authentic flamenco and the legendary sierras.
Andalusia is unlike any other Spanish region. The name itself recalls the ancient Arabic name given to the Iberian peninsula. But these conquerors left more than a name. They engineered stunning mosques and palaces throughout the countryside, cultivated olives and added to the local language. Flamenco is authentically Andalusian, where performers and artists search the elusive duende – their internal muse. The local cuisine is as powerful as the dance: rabo de torro, mollete and the well-known gazpacho owe their popularity to their Andalusian roots. The wines from Cadìz and the sherry from Jerez will delight and refresh. But the Sierra mountain chains will enchant you everyday, with their raw beauty and natural wildlife.

DAY 1 – 2 10 mi / 60 mi
After lunch, we’ll prepare for our first cycling adventure, after covering all the proper safety procedures. The group will be fitted on their bikes as we get to know our wheels for the upcoming week. We will then provide brief introductions and a description of each day of the tour. The picturesque, historic city of Seville is home to some of the country’s best and oldest Flamenco traditions. As the capital of the Andalusia region, this city is rich in architectural richness from the Alcázar Castle to its legendary bullring.
DAY 3 – 4 43 mi / 47 mi
Our first stop is in the culturally rich Zahara de la Sierra. This village, atop mountains along the coast, is in the province of Cadiz and offers some of the regions premier wines. This rolling itinerary takes us up and down through the beautiful villages of the Grazalema National Park. The park is a reserve for many species of bird and wildlife, offering stunning views of the countryside.
DAY 5 – 6 40 mi / 44 mi
This impressive backdrop of the Grazalema National Park will remain with us all the way to Ronda: the heart of Spanish bullfighting. This mountaintop city stands high over a deep gorge, spanned by the Ponte Nuevo. Yet Ronda is surronded by other natural beauty, such as the Guadalevin River and the Cueva del Gato. Enjoy a walk around the city and two nights in town to enjoy the energy of this old town.
DAY 7 – 8 41 mi / 50 mi
Today’s ride takes us along beautiful roads toward the whitewashed city of Antequera. Known for its ancient burial mounds such as the Dolmen de Menga and the Dolmen de Viera, this city proudly adorns its Alcazaba over all the rooftops. We’ll roll along to Fonte de Piedra: a unique oasis in the countryside, offering a save haven for many migratory birds. Tonight’s dinner is a memorable experience as we watch the sunset over the enchanting Andalusian countryside.
DAY 9 – 10 58 mi
Our final destination on this magical Andlausian journey is the nble city of Cordoba. As the ancient califate of Moorish Spain, Cordoba was one of the most bustling centers of commerce and education in the old world. The Mesquita or Mosque of the city has seen numerous architectural and religious changes over the centuries. The Roman bridges, the Arabic mills and the delicious local fare make Cordoba the sweetest ending to a fairy-tale journey through southern Spain.
