Provence luxury travel
chateauneuf villages, ventoux countryside and the luberon valley
Provence has captivated travelers for centuries. Her warm hospitality, sycamore-lined boulevards, lazy piazzas and cool pastis are the beginning of this sensational journey. Van Gogh, the Papal Cardinals, and Petrach all had good reasons to call provence their home. From cold crisp viognier to the cigals singing on a warm summer’s night, this is Provence. Explore with us la vie tranquille, meandering through southern France’s quiet roads and enjoying warm company at her dinner table. Ride in the shadows of Mount Ventoux and in the steps of historic bike races. The countryside unfolds before your very eyes, like turning pages of Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence.

DAY 1 – 2 10 mi / 31 mi
After lunch, we’ll prepare for our first cycling adventure, after covering all the proper safety procedures. The group will be fitted on their bikes as we get to know our wheels for the upcoming week. We will then provide brief introductions and a description of each day of the tour. The picturesque, medieval village of Les Baux de Provence affords some of the best views of the region. Perched on the hillside, this town of natural cliffs, lush greenery and castles in ruin is deep in historic legend.
DAY 3 – 4 33 mi / 35 mi
Our first stop is in the culturally rich Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. The village’s natural water source has been the center of a cult following since the beginning of human history. This rolling itinerary takes us up and down through the beautiful villages of the National Park of the Luberon. It was here, in Menerbes, that Peter Mayle wrote his New York Times bestseller A Year In Provence.
DAY 5 – 6 40 mi / 44 mi
The mountainsides will provide an impressive backdrop the whole day as you ride on one of the most stunning picturesque roads of France through the Gorge de la Nesque. Before us stands the impressive Mt. Ventoux: 1912m of foreboding mountain, with its last 6 kilometers bearing an astonishing resemblance to a lunar landscape, and most exposed to the wind. Today’s extra loop takes you up to the top of this iconic cycling summit.
DAY 7 – 8 41 mi
Today’s ride takes us along the beautiful vineyards known as the Côtes du Ventoux, where exceptional wines grow in the mountain’s shadow. We pass through the wine mecca of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Tonight’s dinner is a memorable experience as we watch the sunset with glasses of crisp rosé in hand. Avignon, the “City of the Popes,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the foreboding Papal Palace in the heart of the city, awaits our arrival.
